About us at Ink-dot.

Ink-dot. is a group effort by Steven Dawson, Hannah McVicar and Hello Blue (Phil Pegler and Louis Bartlett). We all work in the design and illustration business in Bristol. We all share enjoyment and passion for fine design and illustration.

We created Ink-dot. as way of highlighting the undisplayed talent of the many working designers and illustrators who shared our office. We feel that given a platform to shine on, there are many wonderful designers and illustrators, who can do amazing things with their talents. It is a joy for us to take these talents away from the oft unrecognising clutches of their day-to-day employers/clients, and to let them design or illustrate to a simple brief, with only themselves as judge over their piece.

We held our first exhibition in March 2009 and followed it up two months later with the second show in early May 2009. Both these shows used designers and illustrators based in Spike Island (as this was all our home at the time). We displayed works by around 18 different people.

For our third show we wanted to branch out of Spike Island, and find a more visible, commercial space, so we've rented the gallery space upstairs in the howies store on Queens Rd, Bristol. The idea of the show has obviously created an interest, as after initially hoping to exhibit 22 to 25 people, we've ended up showing 35 and having to unfortunately turn some people away.

The show is glorious riot of colour and design/illustration styles. And is displaying works from a very satisfyingly diverse range of designers. From designers in the middle of a long professional career, to students in thier 1st, 2nd or 3rd year (and a tutor). From professional cartoonists, to video designers.

We will be doing a 4th show sometime in 2010... and a fifth... etc
