Jane draws Bristol
Introducing the beautiful free hand drawing stylings of Jane Teasdale. Three Bristol scenes
Jane Teasdale is an illustrator living and working in the heart of Paris. Jane draws city architechtural scenes, always with the same Pilot pen and always completely freehand. There is nothing more technical used to make these drawings beyond a pen, pencil and the paper. There is no rulers or computers are used to create these original drawings.
Jane likes to find places that interest her architecturally. "I like to draw places in the city that I know will change", say's Jane. "Capturing a moment in a cities lifetime". The images often show the transitional character a city has as it evolves and develops.
For Jane's initial series with us, she has drawn three scenes of Bristol, from her visit here in the summer. Jane's gone for three scenes different from the normal representaion of Bristol. Instead of the suspension bridge we have the majestic Thali Cafe in Montpelier - two places completely synonymous with modern day Bristol. Instead of the SS Great Britain, we have the a view of the river showing a damaged but strong old warehouse sandwiched between new modern rebuilds and clean plasticised boats. And instead of a Banksy we have a view from a south Bristol park (Greville Smyth Park), including the Bristol City fans favourite, the 'Red & White Cafe'.
Where Jane's drawings are all done with the same width line and no shading they show depth through the objects, but the overall image becomes a sort of x-ray of the city. They are incredibly neat, but full of the rough, worn character of a historical, but developing city. They show up the discrepiancies, damage and wear on the buildings and street furniture around us. The drawings show every edge and line availble, and in turn every crack and every dent.
These drawings are available as digital prints on heavy paper. they come either unmounted and packed up in a strong card tube. Or mounted in a dark grey frame mount, prepared for standard frame sizes.
